Whipped cream and windy days by ~Jeminisoul:iconJeminisoul:

Title: Whipped cream and windy days
Chapter(s): 1/1
Rating:  U (G for US? I don't know, anyone can read this one :D)
World:Musical verse.
Subject: Galinda decides that her roommate and herself could use a little warming up on a chilly day.
Pairing:  NONE! Shocking isn't it? Well if you squint, turn your head sideways and have a mind dirtier then an Anne Summer's shop then it could be Gelphie
Authors Note:  Pure, unbetaed, fluff. I have been feeling down lately and this struck me as I was walking home from the gym. Could take place at any time at Shiz before Dillamond's dismissal . I'm taking a short break from 'Rubble' to bring you this fluffy one-shot. Enjoy!

Green hands clutched her beanie tights onto black hair as another blast of chilly wind made its attack on the two girls. Elphaba a cursed whatever power had possessed her to wear her hair down today as it whipped wildly into her face. Said power was walking next to her, the beautiful face scrunched into a most undignified expression against the onslaught.

“It is,” She proclaimed “A very windy day!” Elphaba rolled her eyes.

“Why thank you Miss Galinda, any other insightful phrases to add?” She asked through gritted teeth as the wind set up once again.

The blond paused, looking upwards for a moment before shaking her head. “No,” she said simply before giving the green girl a dazzling smile.

Elphaba sighed, turning back to their journey. Her school bag hug loosely at her side, the green of her life science’s book peeking over the top. For once the class had actually wanted to stay later after Dr Dillamond’s lecture, the warmth of the room proving a most worthwhile incentive. Eventually though, they had been thrown out and the two roommates had begun to make they way back to their dorm. It really was unseasonably chilly this winter, perhaps something was going wrong with the…

“Oh Elphie look!” Galinda squealed, dragging her friend over to a shop front. Elphaba resigned herself to seeing some form of dress or other and was thereby surprised when she saw just what the blond was showing her. It seemed to be a small café, one that not many of the students really used. Elphaba herself had entered from time to time, when she decided that stares from strangers where better then jeers from her classmates.

Looking inside she assumed that Galinda was pointing to some boy or other, but could see none that would tickle her friend’s interest. She frowned, confused – what was she looking at?

“Not there silly,” Galinda grabbed her head, turning it towards the counter “There! ” Elphaba saw what her friend was pointing at and had to suppress a chuckle. She had no idea that Galinda liked that kind of thing.

Over the counter was being handed some hot beverage or other bedecked with copious amounts of whipped up cream, marshmallows and dusted with chocolate. Elphaba looked to her companion. “Galinda do you know how much sugar is in something like that? You’ll be up all night!” She didn’t even finish the sentence before the excitable Glilikin girl had yanked her inside with a cry of “I’ll be fine, we used to have these all the time back home!”.

It was delightfully warm within the shop, a small fire pumping out heat for the clientele. It was…cozy. Elphaba frowned again, her hair falling every where and she loosely flicked it over her shoulders.

“Stop!” Galinda exclaimed, stopping right in the middle of the shop with her arms thrust out and causing Elphaba to almost walk into her. The blond turned and said in a voice that implied the gravest seriousness.
“Do that again,” She demanded looking at her verdant roommate

“What?” Elphaba asked, confused.

“Your hair!” Galinda called, as if it were obvious.

“My hair…?” Elphaba continued, still not understanding

“You just tossed your hair!” Galinda said gleefully as Elphaba thought,

“I just wha…Oh right,” She said, suddenly catching on. She had hadn’t she? And not fallen over, looked stupid, or any of the normal things that occurred when she tried the blonde’s signature movement and now her hair was neatly behind her ears. She hadn’t even thought about it! “It was just a fluke Galinda, really not something to…”

“Uh, uh,uh!” Galinda grinned “You tossed your hair, I am getting through to you!” She grabbed her friend into a tight hug causing Elphaba’s glasses to be pushed almost off her face and her ribs to feel as though they were cracking.

“Oxygen Glin, need oxygen!” She spluttered as the blond engulfed her.

“Don’t be silly you strange green thing! This calls for a celebration!” She singsonged, moving over to a slightly startled barman and ordering two hot chocolates with all of the toppings.

Elphaba knew it would be pointless to try and stop her, when Galinda was in a mood like this you just had to go with it. She sat down at an empty table in the corner, right between the fire and the window. She looked out over at the grounds, the wind had started to blow the Autumn leaves into mini storms, picking them up and tossing them around like a cat might play with a toy.

Her musings where once again interrupted by a large cup being slapped down in front of her. She tried to protest.

“Galinda really it was just a fluke, I won’t be able to do it again…” She tried, knowing how fruitless it would be.

“No Elphie you did it and that’s what we are celebrating. So I’m paying,” She finished as she watched Elphaba reach for her money pouch. The green girl’s eyebrows raised, and with a murmured ‘thank you’ she cautiously reached for her drink.

“Go on,” Galinda encouraged “It’s good,” Elphaba picked up the edges of the cup, looking down into the pile of cream. Her father had never bought such things for her as a child, Nessa certainly, but never her. She licked her lips tentatively before taking a sip. The world exploded in her mouth in a sugary chocolaty mess and she moaned slightly as the liquid went down her throat. She had no idea a hot drink could be this good! Other than tea of course, and she quickly took another sip, savouring the sweet taste. Galinda smiled, nodding her head in a satisfied manner. She took a sip of her own drink and spluttered a little when she saw her roommate’s face. A line of whipped cream and chocolate had formed above green lips making the most adorable sight.

“What?” Elphaba asked, seeing her friend’s amusement. “What is it?”

“Nothing,” Galinda giggled, wiping off her own top lip. Elphaba frowned before turning and looking into the window at her reflection. Seeing the line, her eyebrows raised and she hurriedly wiped it off, before rounding on Galinda. For a second Galinda thought she was going to yell, but instead her friend let out the most delightful cackle and returned to her drink.

Elphaba smirked, maybe this is what it felt like not to care for once. She pushed her glasses back up her nose, wrinkling her face as she did so.

“Thanks Galinda,” She said gratefully, their eyes locking.

“Oh it was only a milk moustache, everyone gets them…” Galinda began dismissively before Elphaba cut in.

“Not for that, for…this,” She said before taking another sip.

Galinda frowned, not fully understanding.

“You know,” Elphaba said, suddenly embarrassed “For taking me out, and for just… being here,”

“Oh!” Galinda exclaimed, “Oh it was nothing Elphie, what are friends for after all?”

Elphaba nodded, smiling. Friends. Having friends. It felt…nice. She returned once again to her drink, for once not worried about the late night she would undoubtedly be having and letting herself relax into the moment.
